Sub Q abdominal and Peritoneal DialysisI am a nursing Student caring for a patient with PD who asked me and several of the nursing staff if when he went home would he be able to give himself Sub Q injections of insulin in the abdomen? Being that he is on PD we didn't have the answer so I was wondering what the complications would be or if it is possible forhim to do so.
Thanks Judi
Re: Sub Q abdominal and Peritoneal DialysisIt depends on how much adipose tissue the patient has. If the patient can use altermnative site such as the thigh or arm might be preferable. The patient should most definitely steer clear of the PD catheter site.
