Whacky ElectrolytesMy mother was forever hydrating herself because she refused to drink water. She spent more time in the hospital with an I.V. in her arm and you could literally see her coming out of the daze. A few weeks ago, I woke up in the middle of the night so neauseated that I had to change everything on my bed. This continued the next day plus I then had diarrhea. Sponsored LinksRe: Whacky ElectrolytesThank you for sharing your story. Your story sounds so similar to mine and I am worried that this may happen again. I am still dealing with the legal aspect of my story but I do know that they found no alcohol in my bloodwork. I don't drink either. I did not know that an electrolyte imbalance could cause such a reaction. I do remember that I could hear myself slurring my words about a week before but it seemed to stop. I kept sleeping all of the time and I thought that I was O.K. I have a prescription for pain medicine and my mother and daughter thought that I was taking too many. My best friend said that I would say things 'out of the blue' that didn't make any sense. It was a scary situation and I nearly lost my life. That is great that you encouraged us all to drink more liquids. I have a bottle of water with me constantly. I hope that you have your doctor check your electrolytes periodically as I need to do so that it does not sneak up on us again. I do have some potassium tablets and probably need some magnesium but that is in my one-a-day vitamin. I mention that because I found out that I was very low in potassium and magnesium and high in sodium (sodium levels affect a person's mind). My daughter asked me about my sodium levels because she is an RN and knew that information about it. Well, good luck, and again; thanks for sharing.
